X-RAY Family
2013
Lightbox, x-ray plates
Portrait of a contemporary family
The work is made with x-ray plates from the radiology department of an abandoned hospital in Venice. As in the hospital, a lightbox illuminates the image from behind. The x-rays represent the members of a family, including the dog and cat. Every single x-ray is a document that brings to mind the memory of a physical pain, and of that precise moment in life. The x-ray shows the name of the patient, and the date and place where the radiological analysis was made.
It is, in effect, a medical document and a document of the memory of pain.
